How to Spot Forex Signal Scams on Telegram

By IDL Capital · · 6 min read

Telegram is full of forex and gold signal channels. Some are run by real traders. Many are not. Scams cost people real money every day, so it is worth knowing the warning signs before you trust any group, including ours.

Red flag 1: guaranteed profits

No one can guarantee profit in trading. Claims like "100% accuracy", "never lose" or "double your account in a week" are false, full stop. Every honest trader takes losses. A channel that never shows a losing trade is hiding them.

Red flag 2: someone messages you first

A stranger sends a friendly private message, offering to "manage your account" or invite you to a special investment. Legitimate channels do not cold-message people asking for money. Scammers also impersonate real admins with similar names and profile pictures. Check the username carefully.

IDL Capital only operates from the official channel at t.me/IDLtrading. We never message first asking for money or account logins.

Red flag 3: "send us your money to manage"

Requests to deposit funds with a person, send crypto to a wallet, or share your trading account password are the most common scam of all. Once the money is sent, it is usually gone. Keep your funds in your own account at a regulated broker.

Red flag 4: pressure and urgency

"Only 3 VIP spots left", "price goes up tonight", "join now or miss out". Manufactured urgency stops you from thinking. A real opportunity will still be there after you have done some research.

Red flag 5: fake or edited results

Screenshots are easy to fake or cherry-pick. Be suspicious of channels that only post huge wins, show results without dates, or delete signals that lost. Look for:

  • Signals posted before the move, with entry, stop loss and target.
  • Losing trades shown openly, not deleted.
  • Consistent, realistic results over months, not one lucky week.

Red flag 6: pushing a specific broker

Some groups earn commission when you open an account with a certain broker, sometimes an unregulated one. Always check that a broker is licensed by a recognised regulator before depositing.

How to check a signal channel

  • Follow it for a few weeks without trading real money. Paper-trade the signals.
  • Check that every signal has a stop loss. No stop loss means unlimited risk.
  • See whether the channel teaches, or only tells you what to click.
  • Search the channel name with words like "scam" or "review".
  • Never share passwords, two-factor codes or seed phrases with anyone.

Our approach

At IDL Capital we share market analysis, education and setups with defined risk, in the open. We do not promise profit, and losing trades are part of trading. You stay in control of your own account and every decision. If something feels wrong, ask in the channel, or walk away.

This article is general education, not financial advice. Trading involves substantial risk, and you can lose more than you expect. Only trade with money you can afford to lose.
